Sierra Voices #1 | Witness to the Destruction: The Falling of the Giant Sequoias Presented by Speaker Michael Semas

Presenting: “Witness to the Destruction: The Falling of the Giant Sequoias”

Presentation Summary:

Almost all the photos used in this show are from his private collection and were captured by several famous photographers such as Charles C. Curtis and A.R. Moore. The presentation covers the removal of some of the largest trees known to man, including the Mark Twain Tree and the General Noble Tree.

Scenes will include life in the sawmill camps, the use of steam donkeys, oxen and shear muscle to move the large blocks of wood along with some interesting photos of the period.

About the Presenter:

Michael is originally from Hanford, California. He attended local schools. Graduated from Idaho State University in 1983 with a degree in accounting Passed the Certified Public Accountants exam on first attempt. He is currently practicing accounting in Hanford.
