Florence Lake – “Old Flossie” (Population: Three, 1935 to 1938) by Elsie Bush

Florence Lake covers from 1935 to 1938. During the Great Depression, jobs were scarce, a young couple right out of college took the job of Dam Tending at Florence Lake. Their living quarters were located at 7,200 feet at the end of a dirt road in the wilderness of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. This has photos of the Gate House Vents Spouting, Diversion Dams spilling, who named some of the most visible mountains and more.
